Summer retreat

Set against the scenic backdrop of the Fraser Valley, the seminarians, along with the vocation team, Fr. Bryan Duggun and Fr. Davide Lanzani, gathered for their annual summer weekend away from August 21 to 23, 2026. Hosted at the spacious Chilliwack residence generously opened by John and Diane Wynker, the retreat offered a blend of spiritual reflection, community building, and recreation.   


Organized by Fr. Mark McGuckin, vocation director, the weekend kicked off on Friday afternoon as the men arrived to set up camp—bringing along sleeping bags, bedding, and plenty of enthusiasm.   

Evenings were marked by communal prayer, including Vespers and Night Prayer, coupled with deep small-group sharing facilitated by Fr. Bryan Duggan, alongside reflections from visiting clergy like Fr. Richard Conlin and Fr. Juan Lucca.

The seminarians also had the chance to be together and have leisure time. This created community-building and fraternity for the local seminary community.
